I have latest open-vm-tools, perl (and perl-File-Temp) installed already. However, the VM deployed from the template would boot up without NIC connected. Though if I convert the template back to VM and boot it up, it comes up just fine with NIC. This is completely bizzare. Furthermore, changing the NIC to connected for the VM deployed off the template yields an error "Invalid configuration for device '0'."
Hi DEMdev
Thanks!! Seems you were right, it was a printer issue, I removed all printers from my test user and voila, shortcuts are back!
Finally I can continue building up my AppVolumes 4 Applications

looks like its a single host ? maybe its a bug .
try this workaround :ESXi 6.5, 6.7 issue?!? Swap datastore not used
Hi
I have VM Player 15.5.1 on a Windows 10 Enterprise Computer.
The computer is in the companys network.
I have a second local network that I access over an USB to ethernet adapter, this Network contains a NAS and other local Computers.
I can see and access all the files on the NAS when using the windows explorer.
One of the drives in this NAS contains my VMs.
I used to be able to open the VMs by double clicking the *.vmx file regardless of the storage destination.
Now I can only open the VMs like this if they are either stored on the internal HD, a USB HD or the company Network, but NOT from my NAS.
Until about 6 Months ago I could open the VMs on the NAS by typing the local IP Adress of the NAS folder into VM player when trying to open a VM.
Now the opening dialog of VM player can't find the location.
I can still open a VM that is on the NAS if it is in the "recent files" list, but not any other way.
Does someone know what I can do to get access to my NAS again?
(Company IT says two Networks are not supported, but for anything but VM plyer my two networks work just fine)
Hi thansk for your response AlessandroRomeo68
Tthat kb of vmware does not apply to my case. However, I have run the command on the only connection server I have and on the replica server that does not let me install. With no results. The installation of the replica server keeps rollingback.
Both VM dont have Windows firewall and (on my opinion) the replica server get successfully the ADAM database from the connection server.
The problem are on this logs. For one reason it keeps falling.
Hi!
I have Dell server with 10G interface configured with Nic Teaming with Two HP Flexfabric acting as one via IRF. I am configured Bridge aggregation on HP side.
interface Bridge-Aggregation 20
port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan 1 110 321 202
I am specifying VLAN option on VMWARE side to 110. If I remove the VLAN option on Vmware and then change my config to below then I cannot connect to it. I want to have vlan 110 as untagged which I beleive is better way to connect to management VLAN.
interface Bridge-Aggregation 20
port link-type trunk
port trunk permit vlan 1 321 202
port trunk pvid vlan 110
Nic Teaming:
Notify switches
Yes
Policy
Route based on IP hash
Reverse policy
Yes
Failback
Yes
Just want to confirm if this setup is ok or untagging the management vlan is better option and how can I achieve that?
Thanks
HI,
Fammi capire, hai mappato sul tuo computer la cartella Nas che contiene le macchine virtuali?
In caso contrario, mappare la cartella e provare da quel percorso, con credenziali amministrative

Hi, I'm trying to modify the idle VM report in vRops 7.5, at least to change the monitoring window to business hours would be helpful. Modifying the resource definitions of idle also if possible.
Any help is much appreciated, coming up blank on searches.
Thanks in advance
Hi BREAKANOISE.
This problem is caused by failure to load dummyTLS.dll /dummyNt.exe / dummyTLS64.dll
Workaround:
VMware ThinApp 5.2.4 Release Notes
Additional modules have been added in this release. You must copy them to the deployment machine in specific cases, as desribed below. The modules are not required during application capture:
For 32-bit virtual applications which crash at launch on Windows 10, copy the file dummyTLS.dll to the folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64 on a 64-bit deployment machine or to the folder C:\Windows\System32 on a 32-bit deployment machine.
For 64-bit virtual applications which crash at launch on Windows 10, copy the file dummyTLS64.dll to the folder C:\Windows\System32 on a 64-bit deployment machine.
For 32-bit virtual applications which fail to start when launched from a 64-bit ThinApped application on Windows 10, copy the file dummyNt.exe to the folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64 on a 64-bit deployment machine
regards.
We have four HP DL380 G9 (Intel XEON E5-2640 v4) and two new HP DL380 GEn 10 (XEON Gold 6242) in a Cluster.
VM´s with HW Version 8 can migrated beetween all Hosts, HW Version 11 and 13 can´t migrated to the two GEN10 Servers
We are running vSphere 6.5 U2.
When i put on EVC there is no Compatibility Mode available for all sic Servers.
What is going wrong
Thanks for your support
ive always found vROPS to be harder than almost anything else to find decent results for on google....
Check the Workload Policy Rule for idle definitions
Hi,
I am running linux(centos7) guest with runlevel 3( multi-user mode, which should be without X-server) under host win10, with Workstation 15 player.
I am not how to set it to run with resolution 1920x1080 mode, although it runs normally for runlevel 5, with X-server and Gnome.
When it boots up, it runs with default 800x600, then it seems not be able to change this resolution with full screen mode, unlike the runlevel 5, with X-server and Gnome, which will maximize the linux window with 1920x1080 under full screen mode.
My hardware is Dell notepad Latitude 5480 with Intel core i5.
For the vm hardware display setting, I tried options with/without 3D acceleration, using host setting for monitors, and specific monitor setting(1920x1080)/
From the grub2 boot and run 'vbeinfo' from grub2, it seems there is no 1920x1080 mode supported by bios. It shows max mode is 1152x864.
Attempted to set the below in grub2, but it failed.
GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
I also attempted to change the default resolution to 1920x1080 from the driver vmwgfx, but failed.
Good morning dear community,
We are currently facing a weird problem in our vsphere cluster. After upgrading to vsphere 6.7U3 vMotion is not possible for VMs of Virtual HW Version 8 and earlier. Even if I open the vMotion wizard and select the same host, as the particular VM is running on, I'm getting a CPU compatibility error:
The virtual machine requires hardware features that are unsupported or disabled on the target host: """""""""""""* General incompatibilities " If possible, use a cluster with Enhanced vMotion Compatibility (EVC) enabled; see KB article 1003212. CPUID details: incompatibility at level 0x1 register 'ecx'. Host bits: 0001:0110:1001:1000:0010:0010:0000:0011 Required: x111:x11x:10x1:1xx0:xx10:xx1x:x00x:xx11
EVC is enabled in the cluster. So all Hosts are running on Sandy Bridge. As soon as I upgrade the HW version, the issue is resolved. We are running several virtual appliances on HW version 8 and 7 which cannot be updated to a new HW version.
What do we need to do to resolve the problem?
Thanks for any help.

Why this option is missing, what's the (REMOVED) point in scheduling an hard reset on a running VM overnight?
Only an idiot would do it.
(REMOVED) vmware.

I do not recommend cloning vCenter for backup purposes. Here's a couple ideas. If you can upgrade to vCenter 6.7, then you can schedule backups. Same backup process as you are doing within the appliance with your current version and then adds the ability to schedule the backup. Are you using a 3rd party backup application? If so, you can back it up that way. Then restore directly to a host if you ever need to.
Yes you can clone vcsa while it's running.
IMHO, VAMI based backup is best option available.

I don't know about this one. I think you need to open a support case. The rename feature is very new so I doubt there's many people experienced with troubleshooting it just yet.
